Athlitiki Enosi Lemesou (AEL) is one of the most historic and successful sports clubs in Cyprus, founded on October 4, 1930, in Limassol. Its colors are blue and yellow, symbolizing the sea and the sun of Cyprus. Since its establishment, AEL has maintained its identity as a purely athletic club, avoiding politicization and promoting unity and respect among athletes, regardless of race, religion, or political beliefs.
AEL comprises numerous sports departments, including football, men’s and women’s basketball, women’s volleyball, cycling, e-sports, futsal, billiards, boxing, darts, runners, and bowling.
Its football team is among the most successful in Cyprus, with 6 league championships, 7 national cups, and 4 Super Cups. The team has also participated in European competitions, with a highlight being its presence in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League during the 2012-13 season.
With over 1,500 active athletes and 12 sports departments, AEL has won a total of 283 official titles, making it the most successful sports club in Cyprus.
At the same time, AEL is actively involved in the community, promoting social justice, education, and environmental sustainability through charitable and educational programs.
